More than ten million tonnes of waste end up in the oceans every year. Tens of thousands of marine animals swallow or become entangled in plastic waste, causing serious injuries and deaths. In addition, plastic in the sea is almost indestructible and never completely decomposes. Fragments become microplastics and microplastics become nanoplastics.
The newly upgraded packaging consists of ‘Sappi Seal’ recyclable paper packaging material made from sustainable forestry and can be recycled via the wastepaper bin. To improve the recyclability of the Ronnefeldt Teavelope® product box and minimise material use, we have ceased using the hot-foil stamping that created the shiny gold Ronnefeldt logo. In addition, for more than 10 years we have dispensed with the metal clips and close the tea bag with a knotted cotton thread. In this way, further material consumption is reduced.
